The Guna Yala Archipelago (San Blas) is a narrow tropical paradise stretching 390 km along Panama's Caribbean coast, with more than 300 islands of white sand and coral reefs — autonomous territory of the Guna people, largely untouched and without hotels.
The journey begins with pickup at your hotel in Panama City and a transfer to Albrook Airport. From there, a private flight by helicopter or aircraft — under an hour — crosses the country coast to coast, with views of the Panama Canal, the rainforest of Chagres National Park, the continental divide and the Caribbean coastline. Upon landing, a local host transfers guests by boat to the private Lagoon 56 catamaran, anchored in the crystal-clear Caribbean waters.
Onboard, the experience includes snorkeling amid vibrant coral reefs, exploring secluded coves by kayak or paddleboard, swimming in warm Caribbean waters, visiting palm-lined, white-sand islands, fishing for the catch of the day, and an onboard culinary offering featuring fresh local lobster, octopus and fish alongside international cuisine. Along the way, it's possible to visit Guna communities to learn about their customs and traditions, including the making of traditional molas, which can be purchased directly from the hands of those who made them.
Capacity for 8 guests in 4 private cabins, each with a TV, individual air conditioning and a private bathroom. Amenities include Starlink WiFi, warm water, a BBQ grill, a dinghy, snorkel gear, a double kayak, two paddleboards, and beach and table games. Bilingual crew (Spanish, English and Portuguese) led by a captain and chef/mate.
Full day: 8:00am to 3:00pm, for groups of up to 12 guests, no overnight stay aboard.
Overnight: recommended duration of 3 to 4 days, with private accommodation aboard the catamaran, ideal for exploring the archipelago in greater depth, including visits to different islands and Guna communities each day.
Comfortable clothing, sandals or lightweight closed shoes, swimsuit, cap or hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, small-denomination cash for handicrafts, and a good camera. We recommend bringing only one small duffel bag per person, given the limited space on the flight and the boat.
A 3-night minimum stay is required during peak season (Dec 20 – Jan 3). Late afternoon check-out is available until 3:00pm for an additional charge (includes lunch on board).
Gratuities for the driver and catamaran crew
